The interview process will consist of an initial 30-45 minute screening interview and one or two additional interviews for select candidates. Additionally, samples of relevant work may be requested. 

Job Summary

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning has an exciting opportunity for a full-time temporary admissions counselor to support our undergraduate and graduate recruitment strategies and activities. The college's office of admissions leads efforts to identify, recruit, admit, and enroll the next generation of students with a focus on talented, diverse, academically capable individuals. Reporting to the executive director of enrollment management, (our organizational chart), you will implement  strategies to increase the volume, quality and diversity of applicants. The employment is expected to conclude in July 2027 but could end sooner or be extended based on the needs of the department.

Note: This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is required three days a week, with a few fully remote weeks throughout the academic year as well as a mostly remote period from mid-May to mid-August (some on campus work for tours is required during the summer). 

Responsibilities*

  • Engage prospective undergraduate and graduate students by communicating the recruitment and admissions process to create interest, applications, and enrollment
  • Conduct virtual and in-person information sessions about our degrees, inclusive of presentations and building tours
  • Prepare for and conduct one-on-one transfer and admissions advising appointments
  • Create and maintain complex data and information on applicants, admits and matriculated students; assist with preparing application materials for faculty review committees
  • Attend and represent the college at national, regional and local college fairs
  • Review applicant undergraduate transcripts for graduate degree prerequisite requirements and ensure graduate application files are reviewed by the appropriate faculty admissions committees
  • Upload admissions documents to digital file system and label appropriately 
  • Assist with admissions-related events: organizing and staffing

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of professional work experience OR 2+ years of on-campus student work experience
  • Experience with or exposure to Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight travel during busier times of the year
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience working with diverse constituencies

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

The pay rate for this position is $22 - $24/hr. Factors used to determine pay rate include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
