UniversityHousing Facilities include maintenance, facility planning, engineering,interior design and building service.<br><h4>Job Summary</h4>Assign and control the performance of building service work and maintain supplies of needed materials. Supervisors will engage in and implement University Housing's inclusion, culture and climate initiatives.<h4><span style="color: #13294B">Duties &amp; Responsibilities</span></h4><p><strong><span style="color: #FF5F05">Personnel Management</span></strong></p><ul><li>Assigns and controls the work of building service employees.</li><li>Inspects work of assigned personnel and directs corrective measures to secure satisfactory performance and meet established standards.</li><li>Conducts performance evaluations.</li><li>Documents confidential information and interactions with assigned staff for disciplinary purposes; assists higher management with disciplinary procedures.</li><li>Evaluates job assignments with regard to time and operating data; provides recommendations to higher management.</li><li>Trains employees in established building services methods and techniques.</li><li>Prepares basic reports.</li><li>Approves timecards and attendance records.</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #FF5F05">Resource Management</span></strong></p><ul><li>Estimates need for and procures monthly janitorial supplies.</li><li>Distributes and is responsible for security of operating supplies.</li><li>Is responsible for security of equipment.</li><li>Assists with testing and evaluating new products and machines.</li></ul><p><strong><span style="color: #FF5F05">Other duties as assigned.</span></strong></p><br><h4>Physical Demands</h4><li>Walking : Frequently </li><li>Stairs : Frequently </li><li>Sitting : Frequently </li><li>Lifting/Carrying : Occasionally </li><li>Pushing/Pulling : Occasionally </li><li>Bending/Stooping : Occasionally </li><br><h4>Working Conditions</h4><li>Hazards : Occasionally </li><li>Toxic, Caustic Chemicals : Occasionally </li><br><h4>Additional Physical Demands</h4>Participation in the Building Service Standby after-hours coverage call-in schedule is expected, in one-week increments, on a rotational basis with the other Building Service Foremen.<br>Rarely, overtime may be needed to assist with after-hours emergencies or critical scheduled events.<br>Most of the work is performed in an office or other indoor setting. However, working in harsh environmental conditions (e.g. cold, heat, outdoors, dusty) may be required to perform supervisory assessments. <br>Position involves occasionally lifting items in excess of 20 lbs., bending, and daily walking throughout assigned work areas, including stairwells.<br><br><h4><span style="color: #13294B">Minimum Qualifications</span></h4><ul><li>High school graduation or equivalent.</li><li>Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in building custodial work.</li></ul><h4><span style="color: #13294B">Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</span></h4><ul><li>Knowledge of cleaning solutions and custodial methods.</li><li>Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.</li><li>Ability to read and follow written instructions, directions, labeling and measurements.</li><li>Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.</li><li>Ability to use basic features of Microsoft Windows computer operating system; ability to use basic features of Microsoft Word and Excel programs.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, other staff, and students.</li><li>Ability to work in an environment with varied staff and students.</li></ul></font></span></span></p><h4><span style="font-family: &quot;Segoe UI&quot;; color: #13294B"><font size="3">Appointment Information</font></span></h4><p><span style="font-family: &quot;Segoe UI&quot;"><font size="3">This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 1600 - Building Service Foreman position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search.
